The 2nd Kastellorizo Puzzle Festival, held from 22 to 25 September 2022, was very successful. The unique event captured the interest not only of schoolchildren from the island, but also schoolchildren from Rhodes along with teachers and visitors to the island. Kastellorizo experienced a real festival of science, which included experiential workshops, puzzles, scientific activities, mathematical tricks, Stand up Science for children, exhibitions of tactile puzzles, film / music workshops, puzzle matches and educational programmes that combined Art and Science.
There were also guided tours of the Museum of Puzzles, hiking, stargazing, sungazing, ghosts that... walked around, fairy tales, dancing and a unique concert with Suzana and Eleni Vouyouklis.
The main goal of the Festival was for scientific knowledge to reach everyone - young and old - in a simple, accessible, interactive and enjoyable way
A great contribution to the island was the initiative of the organising committee of the Puzzle Festival with the installation of an automatic external defibrillator and the series of rescue and first aid courses, with the certification of residents of the island, within the framework of the Kids Save Lives programme and with the support of Vioryl.
Exceptional companions of the organising committee were the more than 70 academics, researchers, scientists, teachers and artists who worked and presented actions specially adapted to the spirit of Puzzles and the understanding of knowledge through games.
The event was organised by EN.I.G.MA (Association of Ideas, Puzzles, Mathematics), whose most important action is the Megistis Museum of Puzzles, in collaboration with the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Megistis. Valuable helpers were the Ministries of Development/General Secretariat for Research & Innovation, National Defence, Culture & Sports, Maritime & Island Policy, under whose auspices the Festival was held, while the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation and the Ministry of National Defence supported it financially. The National Documentation Centre (EKT) was also a supporter of the Festival.
The Puzzle Festival is continuing its journey! Its next stop will be in Patras (21-23/10/2022) and then in Athens (16-18/12/2022).
