A survey on the professional and geographical mobility of Greek PhD holders is being conducted by the National Documentation Centre (EKT) in collaboration with the Regional Development and Policy Research Unit , University of Macedonia. This is an online survey of all Greek PhD holders aims to record their professional and geographical mobility, both in Greece and abroad, and to highlight the main parameters that affect their decisions.
In the first phase of the research, the questionnairehas been sent electronically to those who have been awarded doctorates during the period 2000-2018. As a next step, the questionnaire will include the doctorates of previous years. The data collected will be confidential and governed by the rules of statistical confidentiality.
The survey, which is being implemented under the Knowledge and Partnership Bridges initiative from the RDI Unit of EKT, focuses on the specialised human resources that appear to be highly competitive in the international scientific and research environment.
Through its activities, EKT seeks to highlight the contribution of human resources to research and innovation systems and the economy generally. By implementing a series of actions, studies and surveys, EKT enables both the research community to analyse this data and the State to produce evidence-based policies to make the most effective use of this valuable human resource, wherever in the world it may be.
The National Archive of PhD Theses (EADD), which is maintained by and accessible from EKT, brings together all the doctoral dissertations that have been prepared at Greek HEIs, as well as the doctoral dissertations that have been prepared by Greeks at Universities abroad which have been recognised by the Hellenic National Recognition and Information Centre (Hellenic N.A.R.I.C.) There are currently more than 43,000 doctoral dissertations available in the archive.
