Society for American Archaeology

The Society for American Archaeology (SAA) is an international organization dedicated to the research, interpretation, and protection of the archaeological heritage of the Americas. With more than 7,000 members, the society represents professional, student, and avocational archaeologists working in a variety of settings including government agencies, colleges and universities, museums, and the private sector.

The Society for Archaeological Sciences (SAS) is a non-profit international association promoting research on and dissemination of scientific knowledge of our human past, studied through use of a wide range of analytical techniques on archaeological materials. SAS represents a distinguished group of scholars, students and professionals from many settings and organizations around the world, and is committed to the stewardship of high ethical and technical standards in archaeological research. Society for Industrial Archeology

The mission of the Society for Industrial Archeology (SIA) is to encourage the study, interpretation, and preservation of historically significant industrial sites, structures, artifacts, and technology. By providing a forum for the discussion and exchange of information, the Society advances an awareness and appreciation of the value of preserving the industrial heritage.

Archaeological Data Archive

The Archaeological Data Archive includes materials of two kinds - Web documents with archaeological data that may be viewed online and files that may be downloaded from the CSA server for inspection on users' machines with the aid of their own software. Any information available via Web documents may also be downloaded in appropriate forms for use on user's machines. Along with the actual archaeological data are explanatory notes to aid those wishing to use the data.

Theban Mapping Project

Since its inception in 1978, the Theban Mapping Project (TMP, now based at the American University in Cairo) has been working to prepare a comprehensive archaeological database of Thebes. With its thousands of tombs and temples, Thebes is one of the world's most important archaeological zones.

Society for Historical Archaeology

The Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA) is the largest scholarly group concerned with the archaeology of the modern world (A.D. 1400-present). The main focus of the society is the era since the beginning of European exploration. SHA promotes scholarly research and the dissemination of knowledge concerning historical archaeology. The society is specifically concerned with the identification, excavation, interpretation, and conservation of sites and materials on land and underwater. Geographically the society emphasizes the New World, but also includes European exploration and settlement in Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

Museum of the History of Science

The Museum of the History of Science houses an unrivalled collection of early scientific instruments in the world’s oldest surviving purpose-built museum building, the Old Ashmolean on Broad Street, Oxford.

Penn Museum

Founded in 1887, the Penn Museum has conducted more than 400 archaeological and anthropological expeditions around the world. Three gallery floors feature materials from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Canaan and Israel, Mesoamerica, Asia and the ancient Mediterranean World, as well as artifacts from native peoples of the Americas and Africa. ArchNet - www virtual library of Archaeology

ArchNet is a free educational service open to the public, students, and researchers, hosted and maintained by the Archaeological Research Institute at Arizona State University.The website is designed to promote appreciation, understanding, and knowledge about archaeology and the preservation and interpretation of cultural resources, both prehistoric and historic. It features an extensive collection of reviewed and catalogued web resources, links to academic departments, museums, electronic journals, publishers, mailing lists, and conference information. There is also available a search engine with multiple searching modalities.

Duke Papyrus Archive

The Duke Papyrus Archive provides electronic access to texts about and images of nearly 1400 papyri from ancient Egypt. The target audience includes: papyrologists, ancient historians, archaeologists, biblical scholars, classicists, Coptologists, Egyptologists, students of literature and religion and all others interested in ancient Egypt. The project of conserving, interpreting, cataloguing and imaging the largely unpublished Duke papyrus collection was supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities , and is part of the Advanced Papyrological Information System (APIS) Project. The site also provides access to Duke's bibliography of monographic volumes, the checklist of editions of Greek, Latin and Coptic Papyri, Ostraca and Tables.

History Online provides information about and for historians. It publishes details of university lecturers in the UK and the Republic of Ireland (Teachers), current and past historical research (Theses), digital history projects (Projects), new books and journals from a range of leading publishers (Books, Journals) and sources of funding available for researchers (Grants). The database also provides details of history libraries and collections and digital research tools for historians. It currently holds more than 62,000 records, and new material is added regularly.
