Via Argo, access can be gained to Greek databases, the collection catalogues of historical research centres and institutions as well as Greek, European and American Library catalogues (eg the Library of Congress) and published journals.
Being able to find vast numbers of bibliographies in this way and incorporate them into their own catalogues, is of immense importance for Greek libraries, as it reduces costs, improves the compatibility of library data and speeds up the development of individual catalogues.
Argo encourages the use of common standards and tools, as well as the formation of an interlibrary lending policy. As a result, there is better communication and co-operation between the libraries, which is particularly important given the fact that only a small portion of library material has been digitized and is directly accessible online.
