Dr Kyriakos Tolias, EKT Director

Dr. Kyriakos Tolias is the Director of the National Documentation Centre (EKT). He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and was a Visiting Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). He specializes in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative Artificial Intelligence with memory and attention capabilities. He also holds an MSc in Data Communication from Kingston University of London, specializing in the analysis, exploitation, and use of big data.

From 1999 until today, he has gained valuable work experience in both the private and public sectors. Until 2005, he worked as an information systems support and development manager at the Athens Exchange Group. Since 2005, he has held an established position as an executive of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, responsible for the research and development of information systems and applications, as well as the planning and strategic development of the organization's digital transformation. As part of his academic involvement and collaboration with CUT, he has supervised many research projects, organizing and guiding international interdisciplinary teams with various academic and professional skills.

During his extensive professional and academic career, he has adeptly utilized his knowledge and skills to develop innovative products and services. Moreover, he has successfully enhanced productivity through the implementation of business intelligence technological solutions, achieved significant cost reductions via ICT services, and consistently improved efficiency within the public sector.

Dr. Kyriakos Tolias is the Statistical Head of the National Documentation Centre (EKT) in the context of its role as National Authority of the Hellenic Statistical System. Additionally, he serves as Greece's Representative in the OECD's Digital Policy Committee and Committee for Scientific & Technological Policy.
