Vasilis Karkatzounis is an Attorney at Law with significant experience in projects related to IT Law and Legal Technology. He holds a degree in law from the Faculty of Law, University of Athens, and an LL.M from the Queen Mary University of London. He is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering.
His current research and publications focus on data protection, privacy and consumer protection issues related to the use of AI systems for profiling and tracking in the context of online advertising. He is an active member of the O.B.A.M.A. research project (projectobama.gr), funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, which focuses on issues related to online behavioral advertising. He is a certified privacy professional (CIPP / E), a regular member of the Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Justice for the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the judicial system and the ΙT Committee of Athens Bar Association.
