Elisabeth Lipiatou, Head of Unit, Directorate General Communications Networks, Content & Technology, European Commission.
Elisabeth, prior to joining DG CONNECT, led several Units at the European Commission DG Research and Innovation, focusing on 'Open and Inclusive Societies' at the Innovation Directorate, on the 'European Neighborhood, Africa and the Gulf' at the International Cooperation Directorate, and on 'Climate Change and Environmental Risks' at the Environment Directorate and she was the European Commission's contact for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
She has thirty years of experience in science/policy interface at the European Commission, strong academic experience from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in France, the University of Minnesota in USA, the Centro de Investigacion y Dessarollo (CSIC) in Spain, and the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in France, and over 40 publications.
She has a Ph.D. in Marine Chemistry at University Paris VI, a M.Sc. in Computer Sciences, applied in Chemistry and Biology, from the University Paris VII, a M.Sc. in Oceanography and Meteorology from the University Paris VI, and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Athens, Greece.
