Dr Stylianos Spathariotis graduated from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) with the diploma of Mining and Metallurgical Engineer (MEng). Straight after, he started working as research associate in the University of Leicester as part of the MSCA ITN project ETN-SOCRATES, while he has been seconded to work in several research and industrial organisations (University of Cape Town, Aluminium of Greece, KULeuven, Outotec, Helmholtz Institute Freiberg).
He earned his PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science in 2020, on the topic of Metal Recovery using Deep Eutectic Solvents. He continued his career in industry as Business Developer Manager, responsible for i) business development and collaboration with customers and partners; ii) project management and coordination; iii) business exploitation of (innovative) outputs through the development of go-to-market strategy, marketing and financial planning. In his career he has won several research grants (2 individual), published 7 research papers and has actively participated in more than 20 international meetings (conferences, seminars, etc.), also as invited keynote speaker. He has won 3 prizes for scientific excellence and public engagement for the innovative “Metal Painting” technique, while he has given lectures on research upscaling and commercialisation (Innovation Business Planning).
